OUR LANDLADY'S HOUSE IN 1990 OUR HOUSE WAS NEXT TO WHERE THE TWO STORY PART IS NOW.  IT WAS DETACHED FROM THE MAIN HOUSE. THERE WAS A STALL BETWEEN THE MAIN HOUSE AND OURS. THE SECOND STORY WAS ADDED AFTER WE LEFT OTSU

Otsu is the capital of Shiga Prefecture. For a brief time it was the capital of Japan from 794 to 795 at which time it moved to Kyoto.
