I hope someone can help me. I've been trying, in vain thus far, to locate a Eddie Ramirez who was a personnel sergeant stationed with me at Camp Eta Jima and Camp Kure/Kure Ammunition Depot, Japan during 1954, 1955, and 1956. He was married to a japanese girl whose name was Fumiko. We all lived in the Nijimura Dependent Housing Area. He was later assigned to the personnel division at Headquarters, Sixth Army at the Persidio of SanFrancisco in 1958 or 1959. If anyone can help me contact Eddie or Fumiko, I and my wife Jeannie (Tsuruko) would most certainly appreciate it. God bless.
If anyone knows Travis and Pat Owen that were stationed at Camp Otsu, Japan and Klaber Concern, Kaiserslautern, Germany. If you know how to contact them please contact me at
Does anyone out there remember or know anything about this event? Lois would like to know the history of this gift to Sergeant Blackmon.
Sir, sorry to bother you I made a purchase on EBAY that I thought was very interesting. It was an autographed water bucket given to Sergeant Douglas Blackmon from his crew with the 6988th Scty Sg. Yakota AB, Japan 1968-1969. It was signed by all the crew members, and given to him on his retirement? maybe. I asked the seller about it but she didn't have any information. I have been really excited about this purchase and hope maybe I can find out some information. I am just new on the Internet so I hope I didn't do anything wrong by contacting you. Thank You very much for your time. Lois Wease BARONVONMUNCHIE@MSN.COM
Two of the signers on the bucket are Capt. Blackie and Captain Chester McNally (?)
Can anyone out there help Setve find any of his old frineds from the 167th Signal Company.
My name is Steve Baldwin. I'm trying to find guy's from my Vietnam unit. Do you or anyone you know work for the IRS or somewhere that can get a man's mailing address if I send them his name and SSN? If so, I could mail them my letter in a stamped, unsealed envelope with his name on the front. They can complete his address, seal it and forward it for me. This way no info is given to me and it will be up to him to answer it or not. I've been looking for guy's from my old unit for almost 7 year's and I have found 731 of them and only 15 of that number have told me they aren't interested. Paragraph or Article 187 of the IRS Manual say's they are allowed to forward someone's mail.
Please help me, I'm not trying to steal someone's I D or ruin anyone's credit, I'm just trying to find as many of the guy's as I can and get them back in touch with old friends and to let them know about the reunion's. You and your family are welcome to join us and get to see us get some closure from a war we shouldn't have been in or one they should have let us win.
Visit our website at www.167thsignalco.com. Click on reunion's and there's all of the info. Click on member's and click on any name and it will open a blank letter addressed to him. Ask them their opinion of what I'm doing, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
I do need your help. Thank you.
Steve Baldwin, President of the 167th Signal Co. Reunion Committee

Was stationed at Okubo Japan with the 79th Engineer Maintenance Co from may 1949 to Sept 1951. Okubo was the site of the Zero Factory and the Japanese Air force Academy. Have been trying to contact anyone who was in the area at the time and can give me some info on what happened to the men from our outfit that was sent to Korea about July 1950. Would like to hear from anyone who can shed light on this.
I "googled" Eta Jima, Japan and ran across the WEB site. I was a Sgt First Class. I served in Eta Jima from Apr 1950 to about March 1951 when I asked for an assignment to Korea. I was a Signal Corps Wire Chief. I was in the transfer of the schools for ?Hioshi? to Eta Jima. At the start of the Korean War, were shifted to training members of the Japanese National Police Reserve (now the Home Defence Force). I was involved in the training the Japanese is the installation and maintenance of telephone field wire equipment. After training the JNPR for a number of months, the school was closed and it was reopened to train men going to Korea. I then became involved in setting up the teletype operator's couse. I served as the NCOIC of that course until my request for transfer to Korea came though. I was transferred to the GHQ Long Lines 8226 Signal Unit in Pusan where I was the wire chire of the Pusan Toll Switch. I spent nearly a year in Korea and rotated to the States about March 1952. I would like to hear from any Eta Jima and GHQ Long Lines vets, especially if they served in those units when I did.
To all those that visit my site I have a favor to ask of you please write Sony Pictures asking that they release a memorial edition on video of "Three Stripes in the Sun".
Don Devaney and I have been working on getting a Video of "Three Stripes in the Sun" released with a proceeding memorial to Sergeant Major Hugh O'Reilly. I have made a DVD from his funeral and "Three Stripes in the Sun" for a memorial release.
I have sent a copies to Sony Pictures to encourage them to make a Video for commercial release. I also asked them to consider giving copies to the 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds) for distribution to all of their companies and the 25th Infantry Division of which the 27th is a part, also all members of the O'Reilly family.
I encourage you to write Sony Pictures. The movie was released by Columbia Pictures June 1955 that is now owned by the Sony Corporation. I have also asked that they consider donating 10 percent of the proceeds to the Holy Family Home in Osaka, Japan which Hugh O'Reilly was largely responsible for bettering the orphans conditions in which they lived by getting donations to build a new home. His story in doing this is the subject of the movie. Sergeant Major Hugh O'Reilly died on June 23, 2006 Don and I have been working very hard to get this project done.

We are still trying to get this done and I have sent new copies to Sony Pictures in Culver City CA and to the Sony Corportation in Tokyo, Japan. I encourge everyone that visits my site to write to Sony Pictures the more letters they get the better chance this will be done
Ted Turner had the following letter sent to me in a reply that I wrote to him. There was some false inormation the the Turner Corporation had the rights to the movie.
Mr Proctor –
Ted Turner asked me to respond to your letter dated November 20, 2006, in regards to the film “Three Stripes in the Sun”. This is not one of the films that is owned by our company. It is owned and distributed by Columbia Pictures, and unfortunately it is not a movie that is shown on Turner Classic Movies. You would need to get in touch with the folks in the home video divison of Sony/Columbia in Los Angeles and perhaps they can help you. Your intentions are very admirable and I wish you good luck on the project, hopefully someone there will see the value in what you are trying to accomplish. Good luck.

Guys and Gals, We are now one month or 4 and 1/2 week away from or 08 meeting and still a few loose ends to settle on. Hope you have already made your plans to attend and hope you have called some guys that have not
ever made it yet. We have 12 rooms at the Embassy Suites and had to guarantee 70% so lets not get stuck with that tab. We will have the final details during this next week as they have changed our contact person and we are redefining what our agreements were and all is working out just fine. I will have more of the final details in the next week or so. Be well, Mel and Kathie
